Grand County is home. My wife Shawn and I have kept our residence in Moab through the years, and we've made the deliberate choice to build our future here.

My connection to Utah runs deep. My family carries pioneer roots that include the founding of Winder Dairy, one of Utah's oldest continuously operating business, and a long tradition of civic and public service. That legacy shaped how I think about this work: you take care of the institutions entrusted to you, you leave them stronger than you found them, and you earn the community's trust through conduct, not words.

Many people in Grand County know at least part of my story here. When the Moab City Police Department was facing a crisis, I was asked to come lead its recovery. I accepted. Within three years the department had been reorganized, stabilized, and set on a professional foundation. I didn't arrive with a theory. I arrived with a record, and I delivered.

Before that, I served three terms as Sheriff of Salt Lake County and founded the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake, Utah's first unified law enforcement agency. I've also served as Chief of Investigations for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office and, most recently, as Chief of Law Enforcement for the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, working across the public lands and communities of this region.

Nearly 40 years in public safety, across organizations of every size and complexity. Life took our family away from Moab for a time, as it does for many people who love this place. But we never truly left. We kept our home here, I kept working in this region, and Grand County never stopped being where we came back to. It is where we have chosen to plant our roots. I'm running for Sheriff because I believe this community deserves an office that is professionally led, fiscally responsible, and worthy of public trust. I've spent my career building exactly that kind of organization. I'm ready to do it again, and I intend to earn that opportunity every single day.
